Contaminated Site Management

PGL's Contaminated Site team combines highly developed technical skill with considerable industry knowledge and experience. Phase 1 & 2 Environmental Site Investigations (ESI)

Phase 1

Clients have told us that they prefer our Phase 1 ESI service because our experienced consultants are able to quickly identify risks, use the extensive historical information we have already collected from over 2000 sites and produce concise, easy-to-understand and reliable reports that make go-forward decisions simple.

During the Phase 1 process, the PGL consultant assesses the likelihood of environmental contamination from historical and current onsite and adjacent site activities. It involves a site visit and review of historical site information using aerial photographs, business directories, interviews, fire insurance maps, etc.

The assessment provides essential information required for informed property transactions. You will gain an understanding of potential environmental risks to your site, allowing you to make an informed decision based on our recommendations and findings.

Phase 2

A PGL Phase 2 ESI is a practical, cost-effective investigative program which our consultants use to generate a detailed analysis of findings and provide sound technical advice on any next steps if required.

This ESI involves designing and implementing an investigation and sampling program aimed at confirming the presence or absence of environmental contamination. Samples are analyzed to identify contaminants that may be possible risks at the site. Our evaluation is based on criteria, guidelines and regulations that apply to the site. If contamination is identified, options on how to conduct a more in-depth analysis of the site to define the extent of contamination are presented. The results of this detailed site investigation will allow our technical experts to determine the best, most cost-effective options for remediation the site.

Risk Assessment

Risk assessments identify the potential impact of contaminants released to the environment (on human and environmental health) from past, present, and future activities/developments. Risk assessments can be used to help identify areas which require remediation and/or can be used to demonstrate that contaminants do not pose a risk in the environment. We have completed numerous assessments of potential risks from industrial sites and human activities to aquatic, terrestrial, and human environments.

Contaminated Site Remediation
