Junior Environmental Scientist for our Environmental Planning Group in our Vancouver office
PGL is currently inviting applications for a full-time Junior Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Planning Group in the Vancouver office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Involvement in environmental monitoring of a wide variety of projects from small urban sites to large remote work sites.
- Assisting other PGL staff with project-related work in all levels of field investigations; including fish and fish habitat inventory, stream assessment, wildlife and wildlife habitat and vegetation mapping.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Education: Undergraduate Degree in Science in Biology, Forestry or Environmental Sciences.
- Experience: minimum of two years of industry or consulting experience.
- A working knowledge of and ability to interpret British Columbia and Canadian environmental regulations, guidelines and standards.
- Experience in and knowledge of environmental monitoring techniques, including water quality sampling, and sediment control.
- Ability to take good quality field notes and maintain good communications.
- Must be registered or eligible to register as a professional in the Province of British Columbia.
- Excellent internal and external client service skills. Must have demonstrated experience working with contractors, site crews and regulators.
Desirable Skills for PGL:
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel and work on remote sites for periods of time.
- Interest in sustainability and green development/green energy fields.
